Welcome to 4th Grade Dual Language!
My name is Sylvia Campuzano and this is my eighth year teaching at Polk Elementary School. After working in the legal field for many years, I returned to school and finished my teaching degree at The University of Texas at El Paso in 2008. My Texas certification includes teaching grades 4-8, ESL, and gifted and talented. I am currently teaching the English component of the Dual Language Program. The Spanish component is taught by Srta. Jessica Rodriguez. I am ecstatic about being a part of Polk and the Dual Language Program. We are a wonderful team who strives to provide our students with an exemplary education!
What is Dual Language?
The Dual Language program provides literacy and content instruction to all students through two languages. The program promotes bilingualism, bi-literacy, grade-level academic achievement, and multicultural competence for all students. Our students follow a 50-50 model designed by our district. The 50-50 model program's goal is to achieve academic achievement in both English and Spanish.
My conference period is daily from 8:30-9:15 a.m. Please also feel free to contact me through email if necessary.
